The hour of birth of the Munich Watch
Oktoberfest 2006 and all of Munich is crazy for dirndl dresses. Traditional costumes are aces in the hole and the minds of the world are on the capital of Bavaria, when Manfred Hilscher and Rudi Probst - two genuine heart and soul Munich locals had the idea of an Oktoberfest watch. One thing was for certain: it would have to be handmade in Munich!
The idea, born out of joy, soon developed into a fully grown project, which the two pushed on with full verve and enthusiasm. In January 2007, they were already polishing their exclusive ideas for the design and the innovative engineering. Soon, mechanical details had been developed, the assembly was planned and the families were included, following the credo "Handmade in Munich". A cousin and longtime colleague of jeweler Hilscher in Schwabing and at the Munich Airport developed the precision machine for the assembly of the link conveyors. Thanks to Manfred Hilscher's experience as a jeweler and master watchmaker and thanks to Rudi Probst designing the clock-face and many more helping hands the first three prototypes of the Wiesn watch were only just finished until the start of the Oktoberfest. This watch immediately became a raving and cultic Oktoberfest-success - the Munich Watch had been born.
